🍺 The BreweryFinder Walkability Index

Top Walkable Beer Cities in Canada:
Sip, Walk, Repeat.

We scored every Canadian city with three or more craft breweries on how walkable a tour actually is — measuring cluster density, walking distance, and scene depth so you know before you go.

The Method

How the Score Works

Transparent, data-driven, reproducible. Every brewery's location is checked. No hand-picking, no editorial bias.

50%
🎯

Cluster Density

We use spatial clustering to find walkable groups of breweries within 1.2km of each other. More tight clusters means a higher score.

25%
🍻

Cluster Depth

A walkable cluster of 6 breweries beats a cluster of 3. We reward depth — how many stops fit into one walking session.

15%

Scene Quality

The Bayesian-weighted average rating of breweries in walkable clusters. Quality matters as much as quantity.

Isolation Penalty

If half the breweries in a city require a car, that hurts the score. Walkability is honest about what's actually walkable.

Why BC Wins

British Columbia keeps appearing in the top 20.

BC adopted craft beer earlier than most provinces. Vancouver's first wave of microbreweries opened in the late 2000s — by the time other regions caught up, BC had a generation of brewers established. Add an outdoor lifestyle, supportive regulations, and breweries that deliberately cluster (Brewers Row in Port Moody, the Beer Block in East Van), and you get a province built for walkable beer days.
